I’ve been contemplating building a food truck as a piece of wargame scenery for WH40K, Heralds of Ruin, Necromunda, Inquisimunda, Mundamunda or whatever else I can think to use it for game-wise.
I was originally going to buy a restaurant kit off eBay for $17, but then I started thinking about all the excess 28mm, 1/48 and 1/35 scale vehicles I have kicking around, I decided to build a futuristic food truck instead.
I have a special place in my heart for food trucks. My father and I used to sometimes order from them back when I was a teenager working with him cleaning stores in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. He called them “Ptomaine Wagons”. Apparently, that’s what firefighters in and around the Abilene, Texas area referred to them as back in the day. Anyway, some of the best tasting sandwiches I ate back then were made in a food truck’s kitchen. I usually had chopped bar-b-q, but sometimes I ordered a chili-cheeseburger or a turkey-and-ham with cheese. I would get the customary fries and either a Coke or a Royal Crown Cola along with a slice of chocolate cake. Those were the good old days when I could eat whatever I wanted to and not gain an ounce.
I think I may put a food truck or two in my Hell’s Half-Dozen storyline as well. I think it would be a nice touch.
